Oxford Biomedica Commences Phase III Trial of Trovax® in Renal Cancer

Oxford, UK – 7 November 2006: Oxford BioMedica (LSE: OXB), a leading gene therapy company, announced today that the first patient has been treated in TRIST, a pivotal multi-centre Phase III trial of TroVax, the Company’s novel cancer immunotherapy, in patients with advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

TroVax is a gene-based therapeutic cancer vaccine that delivers the tumour-associated antigen 5T4. Intellectual property rights related to the 5T4 tumour-associated antigen were licensed to Oxford BioMedica by CRT. The association between 5T4 antigen and cancer was identified by Cancer Research UK-funded studies led by Professor Peter Stern at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, Manchester.
