AS1404 Successfully Combined with Erbitux® in Preclinical Study

London, UK, 12 September 2006 - Data to be presented today show that combining Antisoma’s AS1404 with the anti-EGF-receptor antibody Erbitux® produces a synergistic reduction in the growth of lung cancer xenografts. The data will be presented at a seminar held jointly by Antisoma and Cancer Research Technology (CRT).

AS1404 (DMXAA) is a small-molecule vascular disrupting agent which targets the blood vessels that nourish tumours. The drug was discovered by Professors Bruce Baguley and William Denny and their teams at the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, University of Auckland, New Zealand and licensed by CRT to Antisoma in August 2001.
