Biotherapeutic Development at CRT

Exciting potential biological therapeutics are developed by CRT's industrially trained biochemists, molecular biologists and cell biologists in collaboration with academic investigators. Biological development programmes are likely to include feasibility and validation, large scale reagent production, activity exemplification and/or proof of concept studies. Biological therapeutics will be out-licensed to a commercial partner for clinical development.

Validation and feasibility studies are performed on potential therapeutics to assess the clinical potential of therapeutic candidates. Target validation studies utilise CRT's comprehensive normal and tumour collections of human cDNA and established experience in RNA interference technology.

CRT has the facilities and expertise for large-scale protein production and are experienced in monoclonal antibody generation.

Functional activity of biologicals is investigated in a series of specialist assays.
For biologicals taken through to proof of concept stage by CRT, reagents and associated intellectual property are out-licenced after initial proof of efficacy studies are carried out.
