Commercialisation Routes

All of CRT’s intellectual property is focused on the fight against cancer and CRT’s business managers are experienced in all the possible commercialisation routes for new inventions. Whichever commercialisation route is selected to develop an invention, CRT’s in-house legal team will prepare high quality, robust legal agreements that clearly define the expectations, intentions and obligations of all parties.

There are three possible commercialisation routes for new inventions:

Direct Licensing
The most common commercialisation route used by CRT is direct licensing to commercial partners. CRT has an impressive range of projects under development and available for licensing. These include small molecule and biological agents for development into future cancer therapies, enabling technologies to facilitate new discoveries, as well as research reagents and diagnostics for the detection of cancer.

At any one time CRT will have a portfolio of more than 200 projects at various stages of development. Projects that are available for licensing are listed on this website.

Research Collaborations
CRT works with companies to establish effective research collaborations which maintain the involvement of inventors, as well as facilitating access to development resources at CRT’s Development Laboratories, Cancer Research UK, or the inventing institute. This route may be of specific interest for specialised companies lacking certain in-house development capabilities. It is typical for research collaborations to be linked to downstream option agreements.

Additionally, CRT can help commercial partners access Cancer Research UK’s Drug Development Office in relation to the clinical development of novel anti-cancer therapeutics.

Start-up Company
Occasionally, where there is a strong portfolio of intellectual property, CRT will investigate the possibility of a start-up company.
