CRT is seeking to recruit an In-house Lawyer to join its dedicated team of four lawyers.
CRT’s lawyers are exposed to a wide range of complex and demanding commercial issues which often require creative solutions. Key responsibilities include reviewing, drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements including patent and know-how licences, research collaborations, and spin-out company agreements. Working in a busy and supportive environment, the successful candidate will enjoy a close working relationship with Cancer Research UK, and CRT’s academic and not-for-profit partners worldwide. In helping to bridge the gap between academic research and the clinic, CRT’s lawyers play an important part in supporting Cancer Research UK‘s vision of beating cancer.
You will have experience of commercial law and drafting commercial contracts, have excellent communication skills and the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure. Self-motivation, good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and work with others are also essential qualities. Exposure to the technology transfer, biotechnology or pharmaceutical sectors gained in-house or in private practice would be a distinct advantage.

CRT is now looking for an outstanding individual to help us drive forward the development and commercialisation of exciting new cancer therapeutics, diagnostics and allied technologies. As part of a team of 20 Business Managers, you will bridge the gap between ground-breaking academic discovery science and industrial clinical development and commercialisation by applying a varied range of skills including scientific evaluation, patent prosecution, project management, marketing and deal making. Business Managers work closely with cancer researchers (from both CRT’s labs and labs funded by Cancer Research UK) and industry colleagues to develop and partner cancer discoveries.
The successful candidates will be qualified to PhD (or equivalent) level, preferably with experience in oncology and/or commercial drug discovery/medicinal chemistry. Additionally, you will possess excellent communication and organisation skills and can demonstrate proactive project management and commercialisation skills.
The position will ideally be based in Glasgow, but a Newcastle-based position will be considered. The role will also include regular travel within the UK and possibly overseas.
The salary commences at £30,500 and depends on relevant skills.

We now have a number of opportunities for medicinal and synthetic organic chemists of all levels of experience seeking to meet the challenges of drug discovery against novel oncology targets
Research Scientists (Ref: MCRS0508)
We require medicinal and synthetic organic chemists, qualified to PhD (or equivalent) to perform and lead the design and synthesis of novel chemical agents focused against proprietary oncology targets. Ideally you will have several years experience in a pharmaceutical setting and experience in leading medicinal chemistry teams and / or drug discovery programs would be beneficial.
Research Officers (Ref: MCRO0508)
Graduate organic chemists are required to support the synthesis of novel chemical agents focused against proprietary oncology targets. The successful candidates will have a strong focus on synthetic organic chemistry and experience of working in a laboratory environment would be beneficial.
