The Discovery Fund is a joint initiative between CRT and Cancer Research UK with the aim of directly developing research for patient benefit. The Discovery Fund seeks to support:
- Therapeutics and diagnostic target validation
- Development of candidate preventative or therapeutic entities (from drug discovery to pre-clinical testing)
- Development of diagnostic and prognostic techniques or assays
- Development of enabling technologies to support drug discovery, prognostics or diagnostics
CRT is responsible for the identification of innovative opportunities, initial review and subsequent support of Discovery Fund grant applications. Awards are approved and overseen by the Discovery Committee. Further information is available here.
Discovery funding may be sought to facilitate a collaborative project with CRT’s scientists in the Development Laboratories, with core competences in molecular and cellular biology, drug discovery, early pharmacology and medicinal chemistry.
