Our Network

CRT has exclusive rights to more than £350m of world-class cancer research a year. We also have rights to IP beyond Cancer Research UK. This means we’re the gateway to much of the high quality oncology research happening in the UK today.

As a central organisation in the Cancer Research UK network, we’re able to bring together scientists and institutions from across the charity’s research community to facilitate mutually beneficial collaborations between research teams and industry partners.

CRT is completely focused on cancer. This means we’re more experienced, more knowledgeable and better connected in the field of cancer research and development.

A substantial proportion of Cancer Research UK's scientific funding is provided to five core research institutes. These laboratories are funded either directly through core funding or by substantial renewable programme grants with a significant core element.

CRT has institute-based Business Development Managers working onsite at each of these core institutes to maintain strong relationships and direct lines of communication with cancer research scientists.

The Cancer Research UK Centres are partnerships working on a local level with universities, NHS Trusts, cancer networks and other charities, and on a national level with government and industry. The vision of the initiative is to develop long-term, sustainable centres of excellence in cancer, delivering world-class research, improved patient care and greater local engagement.

CRT has a close working relationship with each of the CRUK Centres and proactively looks for synergy and complementary research within the Cancer Research UK portfolio.
