Keratin 7 (some weak reactivity with keratin 8 and other type II keratins). |
| Relevance: |
Keratins are a family of intermediate filament proteins that assemble into filaments through forming heterodimers of one type I keratin (keratins 9 to 23) and one type II keratin (keratins 1 to 8). Keratins demonstrate tissue- and differentiation-specific expression profiles. Keratins 7 and 8 are two closely related type II keratins characteristic of simple epithelia. Keratin 7 is less widespread than keratin 8 and is expressed in sebaceous and sweat glands and some cells of the inner hair root sheath. Keratin 7 is often co-expressed with keratin 19. |
