Anti-IL-1 Antibody Profile

Antigen: Interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1 alpha)
Relevance: Interleukin 1 (IL-1), originally known as lymphocyte activating factor (LAF), is an important cytokine with diverse physiological effects.  These range from T-cell activation and induction of fever and sleep to effects on astrocytes and fibroblast proliferation. IL-1 is primarily released from stimulated macrophages and monocytes, but also is released from several other cell types and is thought to play a key role in inflammatory and immune responses. IL-1 exists in two distinct forms (IL-1 alpha and beta) which show little sequence homology (around 25%).  They bind the same cell surface receptor and elicit nearly identical biological responses
Clone: 3B3 (aka 364/3B3-14)
Subclass: IgG 1
Applications: Immunoprecipitation, Immunoassay
Immunogen: Recombinant human Interleukin 1
Reactivity: Human
Species raised in: Balb/C mice
Fusion partner: NSO
Recommended growth conditions: RPMI 1640 + 5% FCS
References: Thorpe, R et al. 1988 Lymphokine Research. 7 (2): 119-27 PubMed Logo
Notes: Does not recognise IL-1beta, TNF alpha or ovalbumin. Positive control: recombinant Il-1 protein.  Recognisies both recombinant and native IL-1.  Can be used as a capture antibody in immunoassays when paired with one of our other IL-1 clones: 364/8C4-8 or 364/5C6-2
