Drug Discovery Programmes of Cancer Research UK and Cancer Research Technology showcased at AACR-NCI-EORTC Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics Meeting in Boston

News Review 2008/9

CRT’s Discovery Laboratories presented exciting results of a potent and selective inhibitor of protein kinase D at the AACR. The compound - CRT0066101 - has shown impressive results in both pancreatic and lung cancer tumour models.

CRT and Cancer Research UK signed their first two deals under the innovative Clinical Development Partnership (CDP) programme in which companies are invited to out licence promising agents for development. These partnerships were formed with AstraZeneca and Astex Therapeutics Ltd for the development of the tyrosine kinase inhibitor - AZD0424 - and the protein kinase B inhibitor - AT13148. Further agreements were formed with ArticDX and The Technology Partnership to enable them to take forward work on potential diagnostic equipment.

A new scheme was launched where companies are invited to join CRT and Cancer Research UK in selecting a team of ‘crack scientists’ who are quipped to work on emerging fields of cancer science.

News Review 2H 2006/7

CRT continued to grow its business around the world in the second half of 2006/07. US subsidiary CRT Inc. made its first collaborative partnership with Fox Chase Cancer Center in 2007, and CRT Ltd. took on a pivotal role in the new Cooperative Research Centre for Cancer Therapeutics in Australia. In addition, the recent appointment of Keith Blundy as CEO coincides with a period of rapid expansion for CRT's Development Laboratories, increasing the number of projects that can be initiated with new and existing research partners. Exciting progress was also made by existing partners with programmes in CRT's pipeline -selected highlights include new development milestone reached in the Novartis/Vernalis Hsp90 programme, submission of the NDA by GPC Biotech for Satraplatin, and sub-licensing of both Trovax by Oxford BioMedica to Sanofi-Aventis, and Antisoma's AS1404 (DMXAA) to Novartis.

News Review 1H 2006/7

During the last 6 months CRT has established several new translational research collaborations and there have been new developments in drug discovery and out-licensing activities. Our reagents business has also expanded, following an agreement with Birmingham University that has increased our antibody portfolio to over 450 monoclonals. Furthermore, CRT's licensing partners have announced some exciting advancements in the development of CRT's partnered therapeutics under clinical development.

News Review 2005/6

2005/6 was exciting times for CRT and its academic research partners. Overall, CRT generated revenues of over £25 million, more than 20 projects were successfully commercialised and over 45 new projects have been intiated in collaboration with academic partners worldwide. In addition, CRT’s Development Laboratories have contributed to three projects which progressed to marketing and one that has been successfully commercialised.
